Prism Layers Custom Controls

Within a surface or volumetric control, the Prism Layers node allows you to select the prism layer properties that you want to set using custom values.

If the Custom option is selected, additional properties are activated in the Prism Layers node which allow specific prism layer settings to be made. An example of a surface custom control is shown below.

Prism Layers Node Properties

Prism Layers
Allows you to customize the prism layer options for the surfaces or volumes that are assigned to the custom control. The available methods are:
  • Parent—the default setting. Applies the global, higher-level settings, without local customization.
  • Custom—allows you to customize one or more of the following settings for the specified surfaces or volumes parts:
    • Number of Layers
    • Total Thickness
    • Distribution
    • Boundary Defaults
    • Minimum Thickness Percentage
    • Boundary March Angle
    • Concave Angle Limit
    • Convex Angle Limit

You then specify the custom values using the corresponding nodes under [Custom Control] > Values > Custom Prism Values. For more information, see Default Controls.

  • Disable—prevents the creation of prism layers on the specified surface or volume parts.

Custom settings have priority over default settings. If you have defined default controls and multiple surface and volume controls in the same location, the prism layer mesher applies the settings which produce the most refined prism layer mesh. Surface and volumetric controls have the same priority in the meshing pipeline.
