Importing the Manifold Geometry

In this tutorial, you are provided with a CAD model of the solid manifold. From this CAD model, you create a geometry part for the manifold and extract the geometry parts that represent the fluid volume.

  1. Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and start a new simulation.
  2. Right-click the Geometry > 3D-CAD Models node and select New.
  3. In 3D-CAD, rename the 3D-CAD Model 1 node to 3D-CAD Manifold.
  4. Right-click the 3D-CAD Manifold node and select Import > CAD Model.
  5. In the Open dialog, navigate to the solidStress folder of the downloaded tutorial files.
  6. Select exhaustManifold.x_b, then click Open.
  7. Click Close 3D-CAD.
Create a geometry part from the CAD model:
  1. Right-click the Geometry > 3D-CAD Models > 3D-CAD Manifold node and select New Geometry Part.
  2. In the Part Creation Options dialog, click OK.
To visualize the manifold geometry:
  1. Create a geometry scene
  2. Rename the Scenes > Geometry Scene 1 node to Manifold Geometry.
Use the mouse to position the geometry as shown.

  3. Save the simulation to your working directory as CHT_manifold.sim.
