Recording the Solution

For further post-processing, you can create a solution history file that records the absolute pressure, pressure, and volume fraction of water at the hull fluid boundary, and on an isosurface that represents the surface of wave propagation.

  1. To create the Isosurface for the regions:
    1. Right-click the Derived Parts node and select New > Isosurface....
    2. Select the Isosurface and set the following properties:
      Property Setting
      Parts
      • Regions > Domain
      • Regions > Hull
      Scalar Field Volume Fraction > Volume Fraction of Water
    3. Select the Isosurface > Value node and set Isovalue to 0.5.
    4. Click Create then Close.
  2. To create a plane section along the XY plane:
    1. Right-click the Derived Parts node and select New > Section > Plane Section.
    2. Rename Plane Section to XY Plane
    3. Select the XY Plane and set the following properties:

      Normal [0.0, 0.0, 1.0]

      • Regions > Hull
To create the simulation history:
  1. Right-click Solution Histories and select New.
  2. Create a new solution file in your working directory named wavehistory.simh.
  3. Select the wavehistory node and set the following properties:

    Functions Absolute Pressure, Pressure, Volume Fraction of Water, Reports > Report: 6-DOF Body Force X, Reports > Report: 6-DOF Body Orientation X, and Reports > Report: 6-DOF Body Orientation Y
    Inputs
    • Regions > Hull > Boundaries > Subtracted Hull
    • Derived Parts > IsoSurface
    • Derived Parts > XY Plane
    Compression mode Lossy
  4. Select the Update node and set Trigger to Delta Time.
  5. In the Update > Delta Time Frequency node set Delta Time to 0.2 s.
  6. Select Compression > Preserved Digits and set Value to 2.
  7. Save the simulation.
