You can create a new part entity (surface, curve, or point) within the
Surface Repair tool.
To create a new part entity:
-
In the
Graphics window, select the part entities using the appropriate selection filter.
Part curves and part points must be marked as features before you can modify them.
-
In the
Part Edit group box, select the option appropriate for the part entity that you want to modify.
For example, if you want to modify a part surface, select
Part Surface in the
Part Edit group box.
-
To create a single new part entity on the existing part:
-
Select Maintain Existing Part.
-
To define a new color for the part entity, click the Part Surface
Color color selector and choose a color.
-
In the New Part Surface/Curve/Point field, enter
a name for the new surface/curve/point.
In this example, a new part surface is created named
New Part
Surface.
This option allows
you to modify part surfaces, part curves, or part points to a new
part surface/part curve/part point across more than one part in one
action. For example, given a selection of faces that span different
parts, you can modify the selected faces to a new part surface
within each original part using a single operation. This feature is
useful in situations where you have multiple parts that require the
same type of modification performed on them.
-
To create a new part surface for each of the selected part surfaces:
-
In the Part Edit group box, activate
Append.
-
In the Append Name field, enter the desired
name extension for the modified part surfaces.
When you click
Modify, the process creates a new part
surface for each surface selected in the
Surface
Repair scene. The name of the new part surfaces is in the
format
[part surface name]_[append name]
This process can
affect the contacts between part surfaces. In this case, the
contacting faces are moved out of the contact and become regular
(non-contact) faces.
-
To create a single, new part entity on a different part:
-
Select Specify Part.
-
Click New.
-
In the Create New Part Surface
dialog:
- Set Geometry Part to the part that you
want the new surface, curve, or point to belong to.
- To define a new color for the part entity, click the Part
Surface Color color selector and choose a color.
- In the New Part Surface/Curve/Point
field, enter a name for the new surface/curve/point.
In this
example, a new part surface is named
New Part
Surface.
- Click OK.
-
In the
Part Edit group box, click
Modify.
A new part surface, curve, or point is created added to the specified geometry
part. A message indicating the modification is displayed in the
Output window.
To check the modification,
right-click on a modified part surface, curve, or point and check the menu
entry:
