Defining the Oil Phase

The gearbox lubricant is oil with a density of 845.1 kg/m^3 and a viscosity of 0.074 Pas.

To define the oil phase:
  1. Right-click the Continua > Oil Continuum > Models > Multiphase > Phases node and select New.
  2. Rename the Phases > Phase 1 node to Oil Phase.
  3. Right-click the Oil Phase node and select Select Models....
  4. Within the Oil Phase Model Selection dialog, in the Material group box, select Liquid, then click Close.
  5. Rename the Oil Phase > Models > Liquid > H2O node to Oil.
  6. Edit the Oil node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Oil
    Material Properties
    Density > Constant Value 845.1 kg/m^3
    Dynamic Viscosity > Constant Value 0.074 Pa-s
  7. Save the simulation.
