Setting the Inlet Boundary Conditions

The boundary types have already been defined in the starting simulation file.

The incoming dispersed multiphase mixture consists of 80% air and 20% water. To account for the different incoming flow rates of each phase of the air-water mixture, you specify an air velocity of 1 m/s and a water velocity of 0.01 m/s.

All outflow boundaries of the separator are set up as Outlet with their default settings.

To set the inlet boundary conditions:

  1. Edit the Regions > Region > Boundaries > Inlet > Phase Conditions node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Air > Physics Values > Velocity Magnitude Method Constant
    Value 1.0 m/s
    Air > Physics Values > Volume Fraction Method Constant
    Value 0.8
    Water > Physics Values > Velocity Magnitude Method Constant
    Value 0.01 m/s
    Water > Physics Values > Volume Fraction Method Constant
    Value 0.2
  2. Save the simulation.
