Defining the Lobe Rotations

You set Lobe 1 to rotate around the Z axis of the laboratory coordinate system with a rotation rate of 500 rpm. Lobe 2 rotates in the opposite direction at the same rate.

To define the rotations:
  1. Create the rotating motion for Lobe 1:
    1. Right-click the Tools > Motions node and select New > Rotation.
    2. Rename the Rotation node as Rotation1.
    3. Select the Rotation1 > Rotation Axis node and set Axis Direction to [0.0, 0.0, 1.0].
    4. Select the Rotation1 > Rotation Rate node and set Rotation Rate to 500 rpm.
    5. Select the Regions > Lobe1 > Physics Values > Motion Specification node and set Motion to Rotation1.
  2. Create the rotating motion for Lobe 2:
    1. Right-click the Rotation1 node, copy and paste it onto the Motions node.
    2. Rename the Copy of Rotation1 node as Rotation2.
    3. Expand the Rotation2 node and set the following properties:
      Node Property Setting
      Rotation2 Axis Origin [0.0, 0.03185, 0.0]
Rotation Rate Rotation Rate -500 rpm
    4. Select the Regions > Lobe2 > Physics Values > Motion Specification node and set Motion to Rotation2.
  3. Save the simulation.
