Orientation of Contact-Mode Boundary Interfaces
The Orientation node is only available for interfaces between parts that are assigned to the same region. These interfaces are therefore contact-mode boundary interfaces within the same region, where Simcenter STAR-CCM+ requires an additional specification for orientation. This specification is particularly required for interface types such as fan, blower, and fully-developed.
- The Orientation has two modes: Automatic
and Manual.
- Automatic:
- Set direction for contacts based on regions associated with the part-surface pairs
- Set direction for contacts based on parent boundary associated with the part-surface pairs
- Set direction for contacts based on parts associated with the part-surface pairs
- If mode is set to automatic, you can use the Orient command on the context menu to re-execute the ordering based on these rules.
- Manual:
- User can select contacts and reverse their direction
- If the mode is set to
Manual, you can use the Reverse Contacts... command on the context
menu of the Orientation object to reverse selected contacts.
- Invoking the command will pop-up the Reverse Contacts contact selector.
- You can pick contacts to Reverse
- The icon changes (small blue arrow) to indicate the "direction" of the orientation.
- Automatic:
- Certain interfaces may have conditions that require consistent orientation, for example, fan.
