Visualizing the Magnetic Flux Density

To visualize the magnetic flux density, you set up a scalar scene using the Magnetic Flux Density field function. This magnetic flux density can then be saved to a simulation history file in order to animate the whole solution.

Define the magnetic flux density scalar scene:
  1. Right-click the Scenes node and select New > Scalar.
  2. Rename Scalar Scene 1 to Magnetic Flux Density - Magnitude.
  3. Right-click the Scenes > Magnetic Flux Density - Magnitude node and select New Displayer > Scalar.
  4. Expand the Magnetic Flux Density - Magnitude node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Outline 1 Feature Lines Activated
    Parts Parts
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Rotation > Magnets
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Rotation > Rotor
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Stationary > Stator Teeth
    Scalar 1 Transform [Rotor/Rotor 1]
    Parts Parts
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Rotation > Magnets
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Rotation > Rotor
Scalar Field Function Magnetic Flux Density > Magnitude
    Min 0.0 T
    Max 2.0 T

  5. Right-click the Scenes > Magnetic Flux Density node and select New Displayer > Outline.
  6. Expand the Magnetic Flux Density node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Outline 1 Feature Lines Activated
    Parts Parts
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Rotation > Magnets
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Rotation > Rotor
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Stationary > Stator Teeth

Relative Length Glyph Length (%) 2.5
Set up the simulation history for the magnetic flux density solution:
  1. Right-click the Solution Histories node and select New.
  2. In the Save dialog, set the File Name to AxialFluxMotor.
  3. Select the Solution Histories > AxialFluxMotor node and set the following properties:
    Property Setting
Functions Magnetic Flux Density > Magnitude
    Inputs
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Rotation > Magnets
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Rotation > Rotor
    • Regions > Motion Specification: Stationary > Stator Teeth
  4. Save the simulation.
