Selecting the Physics Models

You use the Eulerian Multiphase model to simulate the steady turbulent air-water flow in the aeration tank. In this case, you use the Mixture Turbulence model to simulate turbulence for individual phases, and gravity is included to model the buoyancy of air as it rises up the tank.

To select the physics models:

  1. For the physics continuum, Continua > Physics 1, select the following models in order:

    Group Box

    Model

    Enabled Models

    Three Dimensional (pre-selected)

    Material

    Multiphase

    Multiphase Interaction (selected automatically)

    Multiphase Model

    Eulerian Multiphase (EMP)

    Gradients (selected automatically)

    Time

    Steady

    Viscous Regime

    Turbulent

    EMP Turbulence Mixture Turbulence
    Reynolds-Averaged Turbulence K-Epsilon Turbulence

Two-Layer All y+ Wall Treatment (selected automatically)

    Wall Distance (selected automatically)

    Optional Models

    Gravity

  2. Click Close.
  3. To review the models, open the Physics 1 > Models node.

  4. Save the simulation.
