Species Transport Field Functions Reference

The following field functions are made available when a Multi-Component Material has been specified.

Effective Mass Diffusivity of Species The effective mass diffusivity, Deff=Dm+μt/(ρσt) , where D m is the molecular diffusivity, μ t is the turbulent viscosity, and σ t is the turbulent Schmidt number. For laminar flows, μ t = 0 , and D eff = D m .
Mass Fraction of Species The mass fraction, Y i = m i / m m , of species i in mixture m.
Molar Concentration of Species

The molar concentration, C i = ρ m Y i / W i , of species i in a mixture m, where ρ m is the mixture density, Y i is the species mass fraction, and W i is the species molecular weight.
Mole Fraction of Species

The mole fraction, X i = Y i W m / W i , of species i in a mixture m, where Y i is the species mass fraction, W m is the molecular weight of the mixture, and W i is the molecular weight of the species.
